School Objective:
To develop a confident, competent and complete martial artist. We have found that many personal objectives – such as learning self-defense skills, losing weight, improving physical condition, and gaining self-confidence – can be achieved on the journey to becoming a confident, competent, and complete martial artist.

Method:
Thoroughly learn one martial art and then supplement with other approaches as required. At Walter David Martial Arts Academy, tang soo do (a standing/striking art) forms the foundation of the training. Tae kwon do and boxing footwork and stand-up combinations supplement the karate training.

Curriculum:
Consists of lessons 2-3 times per week supplemented by individual practice over a 30-36 month period. The program includes approximately 196 hours of instruction culminating in examination for 1st degree black belt.

Class Structure:
Most classes last 60 minutes and consists of a warm-up; striking and blocking drills; form practice; self-defense/sparring; conditioning; and cool-down/stretching.
Time allocated for each part of the training depends on individual needs.

Adult Classes emphasize stretching, striking with power and balance, practical
self-defense techniques, and forms practice for general conditioning.
